You know I'm a sucker for a good turn-of-phrase, and what could be better than a tableware line described as "improved crockery"? Esther Derkx screenprints quirky images of gymnasts, dancers, and divers - you choose the gender of the screenprinted figure - onto vintage china such as platters, teapots, and cream-and-sugar sets. I adore the combo of cutesy, grandma-approved rosebud patterns and modern, ironic flair. Platters (above), $45, may be purchased online at ReForm School.

If you ask me, a home cannot have too many throw blankets. Throws signify coziness, comfort, and luxurious Sunday afternoon naps. Plus, they inspire snuggling, without which life would be less worth living. I'm particularly digging these honey and rose organic cotton flannel blankets from Unison. There's something very modern yet preppy about them.

Bonus: With more throws around, you can can lower your thermostat - saving the environment and moola! And you know what you can do with more money? Buy more throws! And then you can lower the heat even more. And save more money. And buy more throws! I'll stop now.

Oooooo la la and tra la la too! Know what I mean? There's something about cool, affordable art like the above piece by bgreendesign that just makes me want to sing.
Also song-inducing? The fact that bgreendesign's pieces are made using sustainable plywood, come packaged in a reusable, screen-printed tote bag perfect for groceries, and that the artist plants 50 trees each time a work is purchased! 50!! Basically, that boils down to snazzy art and a whole new mini-forest gift to the world for the low price of 60 smackeroos.

There's something about blanket shopping in December that seems incredibly appropriate. Winter's long chill is just settling in, holiday decorations are up en masse, and logs are piling up beside the fire in anticipation of the cozy nights ahead. What better time to find that perfect, snuggle-inspiring throw? I'm thrilled to have just discovered in2green's stylish blankets made from recycled eco2cotton. Styles ranging from chic zebra prints to Asian-inspired branches are $125.

Looking to recover a chair or add some new pillows to the sofa? You might want to join me in ogling the eco-friendly fabrics from Oliveira Textiles and brand-spanking-new Rubie Green...I've been a frequent stalker of both sites for weeks now. Oliveira makes their fabrics from hemp and organic cotton, and I have some white chairs dying for the punch of color Oliveira Textiles Anemone Seaweed pillows (shown above) would add. I'm equally drawn to Rubie Green's organic cotton Tillinghast fabric (shown below). How do you think the two prints would look together? Or maybe I should think about reversible pillows?
